Insider perspective-- Valmont Bike Park

So many people ask us what our VIDA MTB Series clinics are like. And the truth is that it depends on your perspective and what you want to get out of it. Women attend VIDA clinics for so many different reasons, each of them valuable, important, and representative of what it means to be a mountain biker. Following our clinic at Boulder's Valmont Bike Park on May 16, we thought we'd share VIDA Ambassador, Taylor Dilley's thoughts on the weekend.

As Sarah Rawley, one of VIDA's founders, states: "VIDA means life in Spanish." We thrive on the adventures brought to us by life and many of us thrive in life because of the opportunities mountain biking brings to us. At the Valmont Bike Park this past weekend in Boulder, CO, 50 ladies gathered from near and far to enhance their skills on a bike. There were different groups set up based on what type of experiences the girls have had and what their goals were.  Our group consisted of 5 ladies who had not been on a bike much at all. They were there for many different reasons: one mother wanted to be able to hang with her daughter while others wanted just another healthy reason to get outdoors. Coach Dawna Graham led our group and I assisted her as an assistant coach. She ran through sets of drills throughout the park to set the foundations for these ladies who were just beginning on their mountain biking adventure. We covered proper form, breaking, front and rear wheel lifts, bunny hops, mini drops, and riding skinnies. The ladies progressed so much from the first drill to the last, it was inspiring to see these women collaborate with one another and take away so much from the clinic. They are on their way to some epic riding that they will never forget! The next best thing for all these women is to practice what they have learned in the clinic on the trail and to keep showing up!  Look for a VIDA ladies group ride near you!  Coming this week is Barnum Bike Park with Brittany Greer on Tuesday May 19th at 6:00 pm and next week you can join me at Green Mountain at 5:30 pm for a trail ride! Thank you to Sarah Rawley, Elena Forchielli, Yeti and all the sponsors for the awesome event. I look forward to seeing and meeting more ladies out there :)
